AU4 TITLE FIGHT INTENSIFIES AT PHILLIP ISLAND

20/08/2025: The AU4 Championship produced an eventful weekend at Phillip Island, with the Tatuus Gen2 and Mygale Gen1 categories delivering competitive racing in challenging, changeable conditions typical of the South Victorian circuit.

Both qualifying sessions were held on a damp but drying track, giving drivers their first opportunity to run on slick tyres after consistently-wet practice sessions. With grip levels improving lap by lap, the times at the top of the sheets reflected just how close the competition is in the Gen2 category with Harrison Duske (Tim Macrow Racing) edging out Noah Killion (AGI Sport) by just 0.1 seconds. Isaac McNeill (Volante Rosso), slotted into third, setting up a fiercely competitive grid for Race 1.

In the Gen1 field, AGI Sport’s Jensen Marold put in a strong performance to claim pole. Andrew Fitzpatrick (Fitzpatrick Racing) followed in second, with Koby Wilson (AGI Sport) securing third.

The second qualifying session, which set the grid for Race 3, again produced tight battles as the track continued to dry, though the placings remained the same in Gen2 with Duske securing another pole ahead of Killion and McNeill. Gen1 saw Marold continue his dominance with pole followed by Fitzpatrick, while Chloe Lane (Tim Macrow Racing) moved into the top three with a strong run.

Race 1 on Saturday afternoon began with all cars on slick tyres, though the circuit was still damp in places especially off the racing line. From pole, Duske held the early lead in Gen2, but by lap three Killion had closed in and made his move, going around the outside into Turn 1 before diving to the inside at Turn 2. The pair ran side by side through to Turn 3 in an exciting battle for the lead, where Killion emerged on top and went on to take the win, followed by Duske in second and McNeill in third.

In Gen1, Marold continued his strong form taking victory for AGI Sport, with Fitzpatrick retaining second and JesseJames Samuels (AGI Sport) moving up from fifth on the grid to round out the podium.

Race 2 on Sunday morning saw the field facing a greasy track from overnight rain, but all cars were still shod with slicks. Killion crossed the line first from pole, however he received a five- second penalty for weaving after Turn 9, handing the win to McNeill. Duske and Imogen

Radburn (AGI Sport) completed the Gen2 podium, while Marold continued his perfect run in Gen1, followed again by Fitzpatrick and Samuels.

By Race 3 on Sunday afternoon, the track was fully dry, but racing incidents shook up the Gen2 field. Brock Burton (Tim Macrow Racing) crashed out over Lukey Heights and brought out the safety car, and the restart saw contact between Killion and McNeill, leaving Killion with front wing damage and McNeill sidelined with a flat tyre.

Duske, Radburn, and McNeill then received five-second penalties for overlapping during the restart under the Safety Car. Despite the chaos, Killion recovered to claim his second win of the weekend, ahead of Cohen Kokotovich (AGI Sport) and Duske. Marold completed a clean sweep in Gen1, finishing ahead of Fitzpatrick and a late-charging Koby Wilson.

The Gen2 AU4 Championship standings see McNeill in the lead followed by Killion and Duske, with little separating the trio after three fiercely contested rounds. In Gen1, Marold continues his dominant form, winning every race so far this year and building a commanding lead in then standings.

The AU4 Championship now moves to Sydney Motorsport Park for the final two rounds on:

August 30-31 and September 29-30, where the fight for the Gen2 crown remains wide open and Marold will look to continue his unbeaten run in Gen1.
